Vacancy on the US Supreme Court

That a man or woman have the capacity, and qualification to analyze, read, and write for the law; that he or she have a realistic faith in his fellow citizen; and a commitment to the US Constitution; that he  or she understand and assert the role of the Judicial power; and that he or she  serve as a judge with the fine  qualities of humanity; decency; and integrity;  are  all the factors which should be sought  for the bench.

Congratulations to Justice Stevens for a fine service and career.  His successor must do as well.  That the United States is very different from is time in 1975, and also very much the same place, requires that slection motif by President Obama.

He has an option like the selection of a Pope -  a short-termer for now, or a lengthy stay – but one with a good honest qualified mind.   Let the partisan bell toll as the very last consideration; and carry on this good nation and her institutions.
