A Yank's Say

A Yank's say.. British constitutionalism is still evolving in accountability of persons holding extraordinary powers. Our first congressmen lived in boarding houses in the new capital. Richard Nixon rented an apartment and had to account for campaign expenses and political gifts .. the checkers speech. We all account to the law in republican motif and in the USA we divide the powers of government. Appears as to TORY that Mr. Martin was a neutral speaker. Any opposition or is it the self cleansed? No American would understand why in this year's economy his Congressman would expense home speculation to the taxpayer as a Member of Congress. They get some expense allowance for travel and second (ie apartment in Washington) home. Mr. Martin served well and is rightly commended for it but as speaker was too generous and nice. He could not reform without his party. His option of
going compels the reform and a Commons accountable to law and the British people. Let Peel's men in.
