Russian North Pole? US et al Say No

Russia's claim to the North Pole is groundless and conflictive with the existing flow of International Law and Convention: specifically the International Law of the Sea; as the United States Department of State iterated last week following Russia's North Pole claim. Most nations; including other Arctic contiguous joined the USA in similar positions. Russia's claim confounds the previously settled and yielded Law f the Sea which limits Arctic adjoining and bordering nations to a 200 mile zone of economic interest; but bars sovereign claims beyond that point. Russia's claim is based on a contiguous undersea ridge from its continental shelf and littoral sea bed which she would extend to include the North Pole and surrounding area.
