Passing of Mrs.Sargent Shriver

Today's sad news of the death of Mrs. Sargent Shriver, nee Eunice
Kennedy, sister of an American President, and to by her other brothers -
like the late President, Senators of the Unted States, was somberly
announced at about 6:30am this morning on NPR's WFCR affiliate, which I
hear routinely where lve in Western Massachusetts.

The announcement was preceded by a half moment of quiet, for dignity,
before the recommencing of the morning news round-up. The notice
continued that a family spokesman,announced for the Kennedys gathered at
Hyannisport, that she had died.

My non=phyisical association with her,and I have never met nor
corresponded with her, grew as a Washington DC & Maryland resident,
earlier in my life. She then was and will be reembered as Mrs.Sargent
Shriver. Known there and elsewhere for her own good works, as wife of a
Maryland scion in public life, as much as for being a Kennedy.

Her good initiating works in charity, especally among the handicapped
mentally retarded, speaks its benefits today to our better inclusive
society. Her vigor was a good partnering toher physical fitness
advocacy husband Sargent Shriver. Her good family values were a
testament to her mother in contrast to the public ups and downs &
pecadillos of her brothers in the Kennedy socio-marital fortunes.

Her good legacy also is the fine children which include the Kennedy-must
of elected office with varing sucesses; her daughters and sons; and her
tele-journalist celebrity daugter Maria, wed to movie star Arnold
Schwarzenegger, now California's First Lady; a Democrat & partner to her
husband's Republican Party gubernatorial incumbrance. All attesther
good influences.

She shared a fine gift with her pedigree and her wealth; and would have
been a fine elected office holder in the modern age whether in Congress
or the statehouse or the White House.

Her brother, the Massachuestts Senator will miss certainly his older
sister's firm steering rudder and counsel (which one must assume
mattered & helped him) but can enjoy the memory or his association with
her life, and smile, recollecting knowingly, that she had it all!
