A Business Thought –Digital News Subscriptions

Living in a non-metropolitan area of the United States of America, the local city publishes (A Newhouse Corp component) the Springfield Republican.  As with many small papers, the Republican uses many wire feeds from the NY Times The New York Times.  Since the NY Times is available here, as is the local paper, at home delivery rates of $16-20-32 .. which for the NY Times also includes an all digital subscription with home delivery.  Since the local paper is very full of the NY Times wire association stories, frequently the same day’s publication, and with free digital access by the local paper – thought not always the NY Times syndicated content; why can not the NYTIMES ( or the WSJ or the FT) for that reason, make a business partnership .  a consortium with its smaller town newspaper wire service business customers, and arrange a companion digital subscription as a benefit to the local newspaper subscriber?  Sounds like it might be good business without the heavier multiple subscriptions costs and concentration?

This blogger is not entrepreneurial (capitalized) enough right now to start such a distributorship himself.
