SYRIA: Marshalling the Facts

Marshalling the Facts is not a difficult task regarding Syria, if the facts are obtainable.  Secretary of State Kerry and  Senator McCain on Sunday US morning news shows (CNN & Face the Nation (CBS) & likely other programs (dominicales); repeatedly refer to facts not in objective neutral existence, and to bad character aversion forms such as  Bashar and Assad and dictator etc.   (never President Bashar Assad).  (Syria has been styled authoritarian for about 30 years now).

Both refer to a material predicament in advance of the US consultative process of the White House with Congress.

CNN reported this morning that a material fact of proof of Sarin use has been established by tissue and site samples which are UN inspector affirmed.  France24.com reports that the UN will only release the inspectors’ results when those tissue and other medical samples are tested by UN certified facilities.

Getting those facts in evidence, as evidence, was difficult, requiring the negotiating process which Syria ceded to admit UN inspectors.

Verifying the strength and nature of any nerve gas or chemical weapon is also  essential.

Sarin used in Japan for a low homegrown terror group, was crude, but homemade SARIN (ie cf the bean cake bag).  Certifying a government weapons quality and or specialty industrial manufacture is another.

Syria will have to own up or admit to the facts, and should not have to await a Damocletian sword of punishment; save it postures an arrogance contemptuously brandishing and maintaining such weapons.

No great power has commended a process of neutral dismantlement and removal of Syria chemical weapons stores (cf Kadaffi’s resolves with nuclear materials – maybe others).

Russia and Iran remain to convinced, not embarrassed, as if at a University forensics club bout.

Syria in a confounding which President Putin has referenced,h as shot itself in the foot if the matters alleged are true.  Something smells rotten on the powers choices (and in a push to do so) to resort to military action; joined with vocal shouts of comparison to Saddam Hussein and Hitler.  This is becoming  jingoistic, bombastic and not sounding as material diplomacy.  President Hollande rather than behaving as a statesman of France, is rallying a populist bully pulpit.

Syria needs to open internationally, to reckon her government(s) and to come to an internationally hosted table of process to new domestic peace and constitutionalism.

Despite the posters, Syria is not a one man state, and this attack proves it.

If the evidence can be released of an inner rogue command structure; do so.  Share it with Syria and other powers.  Perhaps in converse, as madly as the Administration paints it, President Assad and his wing can humanize the nation now yellowed.
