Helios Airways portal site asserted the craft completely flight-worthy at departure time from Lacarna Cyprus -Helios is a Cypriot Airline- Cyprus first private airline commencing in 1999. -- Airline is popular tourist charter also frequently used for British sun-seekers to eastern Med & Cyprus. Helios Airline with another Cypriot airline were announced last April as bidders for a newly approved and sought route to Israel -- no terrorism was suspected as of yesterday ... Cyprus and many European still maintain a CAB style routes semi-regulated aviation market.

Ready to taxi out at dusk. The aircraft crashed three months later on 14 August 2005 in mountainous terrain some 40 km north of Athens while enroute on flight 522 from Larnaka via Athens to Prague. Unfortunately, all 121 onboard lost their lives in the accident. [Nikon D70]

9 March 1989; Piedmont 737-200; near Dayton, OH: The aircraft lost cabin pressurization at 31,000 feet (9450 meters). The aircraft executed an emergency descent and landed at Dayton, OH. One of the 70 passengers was taken from the plane to a local hospital and died less than seven hours later. Note: The local medical authorities declared the death due to natural causes. The NTSB also lists this event as an incident and not a fatal accident.
